I've read a lot of Anita Shreve's books and have enjoyed most of them. But this one has ruined any chance that I will read another. I am surprised by some of the good reviews it has received. It is well written, but there is no redeeming the story. There is nothing positive, no HEA. Not one happy second on a single page. I wanted to throw it across the room when I finished. And feel bad for the person who picks it up at goodwill after I donated it.
